Pay per Click or PPC is an important and integral part of today’s online marketing. Efficient PPC bid management helps a brand by enhancing its visibility on the internet and increasing sales with the right mindset. Companies successfully use Pay per Clicks advertisements to reach out to a section of untapped audience and get them successfully converted when they land on the company sites. But, there are also companies that report to not being able to successfully use PPC campaign and they don’t get in return what they expected. The failure with PPC is basically a result of lack of focus and approach.
Few Tips to Improve your PPC Campaign:
Proper Research on Targeted Keywords
Assuming that you are aware of the keywords used by people as their search terms, can be the greatest mistake that you can make while planning your Pay per Click campaigns. In order to avoid this problem, a proper research on the target keywords is a must required job to do. It will make you aware of potential keywords and phrases, which may be available at cheap prices, allowing you to take a leap to the top of Google search results, ultimately giving better visibility on the search engine.
Using Proper Keywords in Ads
No matter how different the algorithm is in various search engines practice, the ads and keywords everywhere have a type of “quality score”. In case of Google Analytics, the metric of quality score plays an important role in deciding your PPC, your place and also whether your advertisement will show or not.
You need to advertise on the keywords that are related to your ads or are placed in it. For example, if you have a site on puppy food, you will never want your ad to appear in ads about puppy breeds or puppy diseases. You would want it to be appeared in an ad group which is about puppy food in particular.
Being particular is the key when it comes to ad groups, keywords and ad combinations.
Too Much Promises but Low Delivery
Over promising can be disastrous for Pay per Click campaigns. Have you ever been given a candy after being promised a bar of chocolate? You must deliver exactly what you have promised. For this, you need to create particular, object-oriented landing pages.
You should use the same heading for both the landing page and the advertisement. By doing so, it helps the user to make an immediate connection and confirms that he is at the right place. There is no need to make an ad-copy that exactly matches the landing page but the message that it delivers must be consistent. PPC bid management should take care of this.
Ambiguous CTAs on the Landing page
This is extremely important as far as success in Pay per Click campaigns is concerned. The basic purpose behind a PPC campaign is to bring a user to a website from the search-string and lead him through to conversion. But, if the landing page does not have a proper call to action or CTA, visitors will either be confused about the next step or not attracted at all to take the next step.
The landing pages should have one major CTA. It is better if the CTA is located just after the main copy and above the “fold” of the page. Give an attractive title and subtitle and then use the area below to tell more about the offering. And end it with a catchy CTA.
“Click here” or “Click here for more info” does not always catch attention; instead, state the benefits of your product and services. Instead, you can be more specific like if you want the user to sign up, say “Sign up now” or “Start Getting Updates Now”.
Not Tying back to on-site Metrics
A key to a successful PPC campaign is continuous optimization. Campaign managers depend on ad serving programs like DoubleClick, AdWords etc. to get better click-through prices and lower the price per click. While that is a necessary and valuable task, the real way of saving expenses is to analyze on-site performance.
So, you not only need to keep checking the performance of your advertisements but also see how users are interacting with your website when they click through. You should keep in mind that users must convert on site to get the full value of what you are offering.
