WordPress blog’s theme optimization and SEO is always a big concern for bloggers and WordPress users. Most bloggers used different strategies under the guidelines of different SEO consultant companies, experienced bloggers and search engines criteria to make their wordpress blog successful.
Bloggers learn with the passage of time about their niche, blogging strategies, image development, Community relations development and SEO and search engine behaviors.
One of the important factors of SEO of any blog is its ‘theme’. A blogger has to understand complete philosophy of a theme, from premium theme using to complete updating and making it user friendly, a blogger has to go through many experiences and he needs to apply some techniques and utilize his tiny brain to think about it.
6 ways to make your WordPress theme SEO optimized
Buy Premium theme
First of all start with the premium theme. Never go for a free theme. If you start your blog on a free theme and keep on working hard, then you are wasting your time and effort as well. Free theme can’t compete with premium theme.
Free themes have internal hidden links of the maker and removing those links would not be possible as theme runs only on the availability of those links. All premium themes are not very expensive; there are many sites which are offering premium theme at very good price.
Make every possible change
You need to make changes in your premium theme as well. People buy premium themes and you are not only alone who is buying the same theme. You have to keep it according to your blog. Adding and deleting in the whole theme would make it fit for you and different from many blogs running the same theme.
From top menus, logo and description, front page to sidebar, change every possible thing in your premium theme and add information and details according to your blog.
Unique look and layout
Make your blog’s look unique and new. Others blogs should not resemble with your blog. Try to create your own ideas in layout of the blog. Different styles of banners of your categories or special posts, banners of ads, different sharing tool, front page layout and style should be different from other blogs using the same theme. From logo to footer, change and edit each possible thing in your new premium theme.
User-friendly appearance
Your blog’s theme appearance should be very clear and simple. Not even one person should face difficulty about finding any options of your blog. Some blogs have unique and strange design and a new person reaches to the blog, who does not know about wordpress format or blog style, he might not find the exact category or post on the blog.
If you keep things straight and simple, everyone will be happy with the performance and start will be engaged in your content and other useful items on the sidebar.
Unnecessary and Extra Coding
You should consult some wordpress expert or your experienced blogger friend about extra coding in your wordpress theme. Experienced bloggers know much about coding and they have idea of optimizing blogs. If you don’t have any blogger in contact personally then show your source code to any web developer you know.
If you are experimenting yourself in dealing with the code, make sure you have backup of the files you are editing. In case you change or edit wrong code and need to reset the code, you can upload previously saved file.
Some coding are in those areas and options, normally we don’t like to utilize, like post widget place on the footer, when we have posts on the sidebar as well etc etc.
Heavy Images and Widgets
Avoid using heavy images on your blog. I have personally experienced this on bloggingmatters. I told Hassaan to change some images in order to speed up page loading and it really worked well for our blog.
What heavy images do?
They actually take much more time to load and your reader has to wait in some cases when internet speed is slightly slower. Make sure you blog loads fast and perfectly. It makes not only search engines happy, but your reader also feels good when he click on your post to open and it comes right away within 2 to 3 seconds.
